Pink Shrimp Goes Orange!
So Holland has finally been knocked out of Euro 2008 but don’t worry, you can still support the Dutch with Pink Shrimp’s latest product – a ‘Tulip in a Can’!
The Bodmin based company, which specialises in sustainable goods, thinks the novelty item – which is literally a recycled can with a real tulip bulb inside - will be a big hit with office workers wanting to cheer up their desks with the national Dutch flower.
The tulip bulbs, which come in several different varieties, start to grow four weeks from opening and watering, and flourish within 6 weeks.
Pink Shrimp’s managing director Michelle Penn said: “It’s is a novelty item that’s part of our new range of products but we genuinely think that having something natural in front of you at work can really help improve your office environment".
“We know a lot of people will be upset at the swift exit of the Dutch national side from the tournament on Saturday but we hope that through our ‘Tulip in a Can’ they show solidarity with our low country neighbours”.
Originally from central Asia and brought to Holland in the sixteenth century, the Tulip has become as Dutch as clogs and windmills and is exported around the world.
Although Tulips are seasonal, Pink Shrimp’s ‘Tulip in a Can’ be grown at anytime of the year and flourishes indoors.
Dutch supporter Paul College from a local design company said, “Holland defined the concept of ‘total football’ and always put out a good team - I really thought this could be their year.
“Still with ‘Tulip in a Can’ I can remember those magic Dutch moments and brighten up my office at the same time.”
